DECADE OF WORK OF SLOVENIAN CULTURAL COMMUNITY IN NIS Preserving of traditional values of Slovenian people, learning Slovenian language and active connection with mother country are still the objectives of cultural community `France Presern` in Nis, was emphasized at the celebration in elementary school `Sveti Sava` on the occasion of 10 years of work of Slovenian cultural community in Nis by the president of this Community Ivica Gruden. The participants of this event greeted also His Excellency the Ambassador of Republic of Slovenia in Serbia Franc But. Mojca Cemas Stjepanovic, Mayor of Crnomlj, Alozij Muhic, Mayor of Novo Mesto, representatives of Nis Municipalities Palilula, Pantelej and Mediana, representatives of other national minorities and organizations of civil societies from the Region were also present at the celebration. Guests from Slovenia (Crnomelj) and hosts – members of society of Franc Presern prepared also rich cultural artistic programme created of dance, recital and music. Also the quiz `How much we know Slovenia` was organized in the same school and also the promotion of Monograph work – Study about the killing of Slovenians in Nis during the Second WW. For the contribution to work and successful cooperation, Slovenian cultural community Franc Presern in Nis, gave the acknowledgment to Palilula Municipality. In the name of the president of Paliula Boban Dzunic, Dragan Vidojkovic addressed to the participants of this celebration. Slovenian cultural community is NGO, formed in October 2004, with the aim of connecting people of Slovenian origin and all of them who like and cherish this country. At the moment it consists of 250 people, Slovenians, but also other of Serbian and other nationalities. They are active in the area of Nis and also are connected with all Slovenian communities in Serbia, it is stated at the celebration on the occasion of 10 years of work and existence. President Gruden added that community actively participates in the work of National Council of Slovenian national minority in Serbia and this year actively participate at the elections on October 26. They are also included in the Board for human and minority rights, City of Nis. |
